The storage tank is sealed to prevent contaminants from reaching the permeate. An air vent filter located on top of the tank, allows the tank to “breathe,” but filters out bacteria and particles larger than 0.2 icrons.
The amount of water in a storage tank is monitored and maintained by the RO controller. Pressure sensors in each tank record the tank’s water column pressure. The amount of water in each tank is then calculated based on the tank’s pressure. If the water level goes below the REFILL level, the RO machine begins making water. The RO machine stops making water when the storage tank reaches the FULL level.
